Back-to-back with the meeting of the Council of Ministers dacob held an afternoon roundtable with the then Danish Minister of Science, Innovation and Higher Education Mr. Morten Østergaard. The topics for discussion were focused on how we best ensure synergies between national and European programmes for research and innovation to strengthen impact and growth.
The Danish government has launched a new Innovation Foundation of 200 mill. euro with the ambition of tackling the societal challenges and to stimulate growth and innovation. How will such an important agenda interact with European initiatives, as for instance HORIZON 2020 and the Structural Funds?
The roundtable debated the conditions to ensure the synergies of these initiatives, the added value and impact, expectations for internationalization and access to new knowledge and European cooperation, as well as ensuring leverage of funds. This in order to strengthen regional and national growth and job-creation through world class research and innovation in Europe.
The key stakeholders, universities, regional and local authorities, ministries, funds and European institutions toke part in the debate and addressed the need for increased cross-border structural collaboration between actors and initiatives – exemplified with European best practice cases to inspire the debate.
